Though his strength is in stopping the run, Jones had 8.5 sacks last year for Jefferson. That followed a junior season in which Jones tallied 10 sacks.
Jones is the 20th commitment for the Rams in the class of 2006 and the first from the state of Florida.
Colorado State currently has the No. 4 overall class in the Mountain West Conference in the latest Rivals.com team recruiting rankings for this year.
Jefferson High is home to several other DIA prospects this year, including Rivals100 offensive lineman Daron Rose, four-star tight end Trent Pupello and Kansas-bound wide receiver Tertavian Ingram.
