Florida defender getting looks

Seffner (Fla.) Armwood's Sergio Joyner is one of three known Division I-A prospects at the Tampa-area program for the Class of 2008. The defensive athlete has been getting looks from a number of programs.
"I've been getting looks from Florida, USF and Florida State," Joyner said, adding that he also was interested in LSU.

Currently, the 6-foot, 189-pounder is playing defensive end for his high school. That will have to change at the Division I-A level.
"All of the coaches I've been talking to from different schools want me to stand up and play linebacker. I did that before so I think I can do it now
Joyner talked about what he is looking for in a college.
"I am going to be looking for the engineering program," he said.
Joyner had 27 quarterback hurries and was an All-Suncoast selection by the St. Petersburg Times during his junior season. He joins running back Eric Smith and lineman Matt Patchan as potential Division I-A bound athletes from Armwood in the Class of 2008.
He attended the Rivals.com Tampa Bay Junior Day on Feb. 17 at Countryside High School in Clearwater, Fla.
