Julian Riley made an official visit to Purdue this past
weekend, and gives high marks to the Boilermakers.
"Everything went great," said Riley, a member of the Rivals.com
Florida
Top 100 team and the No. 20 strongside defensive end in the nation.
"I was really feeling it. Jeremy Burnett was one of my hosts. I knew about
him from down here at Jefferson High School in Tampa. We hit it off and had
a great time talking about back home and college and all that stuff."
Riley (6-4, 260, 4.65) has three other official
visits scheduled. He'll be returning to Big Ten country this weekend (12/13)
with a trip to Wisconsin. He'll be at Pitt on Jan. 10 and Boston College on
Jan. 17. He said Ohio State is leading for his final opening, but the
Buckeyes have yet to offer a scholarship.
"They called last week and wanted my senior film,"
he said. "They also said they were under the impression that I committed to
Florida, so they had kind of backed off me for a while, but they're really
interested again."
He said Florida is still on his list as well, but he
may use an unofficial visit for the Gators since he's so close to campus.
Riley has also entertained Rutgers, South Carolina,
Wake Forest, Maryland, Pitt, Purdue and Wisconsin at his home since the
start of the month. "Boston College is coming tomorrow," he added.
Is there a favorite?
"Basically, all five of those I'm going to visit
plus Florida are about equal," he said. "But Purdue really jumped up on my
list. I was very impressed with their whole program."
Riley capped his senior season at Lakewood HS with
87 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 17 sacks and three forced fumbles.
