The Latest: When Oregon offered 2018 Apopka (Fla.) Wekiva defensive back Jarvis Ware earlier this month, it was a big deal for a number of reasons. First, it was Ware’s first Power Five offer, something that is notable for most prospects in its own right. Second, it came from the program he grew up cheering for and admiring from afar, the Oregon Ducks. So now is it only a matter of time before he’s headed west? Rivals.com caught up with Ware to get the latest.

In His Words: “I got the Oregon offer on March 8. That was a big offer for me when I got it. Oregon has always been a dream school. “Ever since I was younger I always liked them -- the uniforms and all that. I know since Coach Taggart is going there he’s going to turn them around. He turned USF around and he’s a good coach. Now he’s bringing a bunch of Florida guys with him and they’re going to go up there and make a name for themselves.”

On the distance from home: “Distance isn’t a problem. I actually want to get out of state for school. My parents shouldn’t have a problem with it.”

Rivals Reaction: It’s clear that the Oregon offer is huge for Ware and he was talking as if he was already committed to the school. He will likely remain patient until he’s able to visit Eugene, though, and more schools will surely offer in the coming months as well. But the Ducks are clearly the team to beat and being his first major offer is something he won’t forget when it comes time to make a decision.
