Florida CB picks up first offers

Sarasota (Fla.) Booker cornerback Marquise Johnson may be the best player in Florida that you've never heard of. He has all the physical tools to be a great college defensive back and has already picked up three scholarship offers.
"I have offers right now from Maryland, South Carolina and Missouri," Johnson said. "I am also getting recruited really hard by Clemson, Nebraska, Iowa State and LSU. I think any of those schools could offer soon, they have been keeping close tabs on me."

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Johnson did not attend any NIKE camps. In fact, he only has one camp on tab at all for the summer.
"I am going up to Alabama for a camp this weekend," Johnson said. "They have been on me longer than anybody, but haven't offered yet. They came in the spring and told me that they wanted me to come up to camp so that they could see more of me."
As a junior Johnson collected 60 tackles and broke up 11 passes.
"I kind of want to get out of the state a little bit," Johnson said. "I want to major in music because I love to sing. I played safety last year, but this year I will be playing cornerback. I have had several college coaches tell me that they think I'm the best cornerback from everything south of Tampa because of my size and speed combination."
Johnson lists his favorites as Maryland, Nebraska, South Carolina, Clemson, Michigan State, Alabama and Georgia.
