Florida CB picks up an in-state offer

Ocala (Fla.) Trinity Catholic cornerback Dionte Ponder does a lot of different things for his high school football team and he is beginning to have a lot of different options for college as well. After previously picking up offers from Duke and Iowa, Ponder has added a third school to his list.
"I just got offered by UCF," Ponder said on Wednesday. "They sent me a letter in the mail."

Ponder had already visited UCF previously this spring on a trip that went well and he is taking a look at what the program has to offer.
"[The trip] went good," he said. "I think they're coming down to see me next week at practice. My interest is pretty medium in them right now."
Currently, Ponder is getting ready for spring practice where UCF will join a host of schools coming through the Trinity Catholic halls to see him and his teammates. Among the schools that Ponder expects to see on campus are South Carolina, Duke, UCF, USF and Middle Tennessee State.
Ponder is looking to impress any coach that comes through because he is not only trying to earn scholarships, he wants to earn playing time.
"When I get ready to go up to college I'm trying to start right away," he said. "I'm not trying to wait a year."
Other schools may be close to offering the big speedy cornerback, particularly South Florida and Cincinnati.
"Cincinnati, they said the offer is on the way, they just need to finalize it."
