Florida-based guard headed to Georgia Tech

Jordan Johnson's commitment to Georgia Tech wasn't a sight-unseen situation, but it was close. Johnson's last visit to the Yellow Jackets' campus nearly two years ago. According to him, though, the trip stuck with him. After all, the memories were strong enough to allow him to make the call on Tuesday evening.

"I called the coaches last night," Johnson said on Wednesday morning. "They seemed very excited. I let them know yesterday. I initially committed to Coach Lamar Owens. He put me on the phone with the head coach."
A three-star offensive guard at Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White High School, Johnson says the decision to end his recruitment without a recent visit to his future college was the product of a feeling. The driving force behind his choice is cliché and intangible, sure, but Johnson is comfortable with things nevertheless.
There's no shortage of factors working in the Yellow Jackets' favor, after all.
"I just feel like Georgia Tech is the fit for me," Johnson said. "That's going to be my home for the next four years. It just feels like home. I feel like I can come in and be a big factor for them.
"I feel like they have a brotherhood up there. That's what I look for in a school."
Johnson plans to visit his future school sometime "in the next couple of weeks." He does not plan to tour other schools between now and Signing Day, however, as part of compliance with his future coaches' wishes.
"They let me know that they didn't want me visiting other schools once I committed to them," Johnson said. "I'm not gonna take other visits."
