MIAMI – Stanley Garner is in the process of narrowing his list. He’s not announced a top five or otherwise yet, but the three-star defensive back is working on it. Nothing is set in stone on that front, but that doesn’t mean the Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard High star won’t at least attempt to answer when asked which school currently leads his recruitment.

“I don’t really have a top school, but I have a few that I really like,” Garner said. “It’s, like, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miami, South Carolina and Kentucky.”

Tennessee is new to the group and Garner, who was one of the standouts of the recent Pylon 7v7 event in Miami, says his interest in the Vols continues to grow at a rapid pace.

“They like tall DBs there and they had a good season this year,” Garner said of Tennessee. “The coaches there really like me. They stay in touch a lot.”

Garner says he plans to visit Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Miami, Florida State and Clemson this offseason and will have a much clearer picture of where his recruitment stands after he wraps up travel. There could be more offers on the table, after all.

“I’ll commit before the season,” Garner said. “After spring, I’ll announce a top 10, but I’m gonna have it all done before the season.”

RIVALS REACTION: Garner is developing nicely as a defensive back and will likely see his stock receive yet another boost this spring. Tennessee is starting to become a major player in this race. South Carolina is also a real option for Garner. Miami has not pressed hard to secure his commitment as of now, but remains in contact and could turn up the heat in the months ahead.
