Florida ATH trims list

Three-star Sarasota (Fla.) Booker athlete Chris Zellner has narrowed his focus to three schools – with an asterisk.
“I’ve got it down to three – Ohio State, Miami and Clemson,” he said. “But I’m keeping USF in there as a possible fourth. If I’m not crazy about what I see on my official visits to those first three, I may still check out USF, but I have a feeling it will be one of those three.”

Zellner (6-2, 230, 4.58) is being recruited as a defensive end by Ohio State and Miami. Clemson projects him as a tight end or linebacker. He says he doesn’t have a preference between the positions.
He was also considering Maryland, where he visited on Dec. 12, and Tennessee, where he had an official visit scheduled for Jan. 23, but says he’s dropped them from his list.
“I liked both of them,” he said. “They’re both good schools, good programs. They just weren’t as good a fit for me as the other ones I’m looking at.”
Zellner will now visit Clemson on Jan. 9, Ohio State on Jan. 12 and Miami on Jan. 23 or 30.
Asked if there’s a leader at this point, he said: “No. I’ve got them all pretty even. I like the program and the way things look up at Ohio State. They’ve been close to playing for the national championship two years in a row. I like the coaches and people up there.
“With Clemson, I feel good about their coaches, too. I enjoyed my unofficial visit there. I’m glad coach Bowden got his contract renewed. I was about to drop them if they didn’t do that.
“With Miami, I like their tradition and the defense they run. I like how they rotate a lot of defensive ends.”
