Florida ATH likely to visit OU, FSU

Three-star Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland athlete Vince Wilson has three schools at the top of his list with a good shot of landing official visits in the near future.
“I haven’t scheduled any yet,” he said. “I want to wait to get my season out of the way first, but I’m definitely going to visit Oklahoma, Florida State and USF.”

Why those three?
“Oklahoma is a great program right now,” he said. “They’re as good as anyone in college football these days. And when I look at their depth chart, they’ve got a good opportunity for me to play in a year or so. I don’t have to play as a true freshman or anything. I’m willing to wait a year or so. That would be pretty good to get a redshirt year, then be ready to be Oklahoma’s running back.
“Florida State has a lot of running backs, but they’re talking about playing me in the slot, too. They say there’s several positions I could play. I like that because I’ve got good hands. I’m just as good at catching the ball as I am running it… I kind of grew up watching Florida State. I’ve always liked them. My cousin, Reinard Wilson, played for them before going to the NFL.
“USF is a different type of program from those first two. They don’t have the same tradition, but I think they’re on the way up. They’re selling me on the chance to come in and make a difference in building something. I know I’d get a lot of playing time there. Plus, I’ve heard it’s a good place to go to school. They have a nice campus. I know a lot of people who go there.”
In addition to those three schools, Wilson has offers from Miami, Notre Dame, Stanford, Georgia Tech, N.C. State, Wake Forest and Iowa State.
“I’m still open between all of them,” he said. “They all have a decent shot right now. I’ve been putting things off until our season ends.”
Wilson (5-10, 180, 4.4) has rushed for almost 900 yards and scored 12 touchdowns in leading Mainland to a 6-0 record and the No. 2 ranking in Florida’s Class 5A. As a junior, he rushed for 1,158 yards and 12 touchdowns while catching 16 passes for 275 yards and three more scores.
Academically, he maintains a 3.0 GPA and is taking his ACT later this month.
