Florida APB/CB lining up visits

One of the Sunshine State’s most exciting players is off to a monster start in his senior season.
Three-star Jacksonville (Fla.) all-purpose back/cornerback Lamar Lewis has carved up the opposition in almost every conceivable way in leading his team to a 3-0 mark. He’s rushed for 435 yards, had 345 yards receiving, scored 11 touchdowns on offense and returned a kick 99 yards for another TD.

“Things are going great right now,” he said. “I just hope to keep things going. It’s been fun.”
As a junior, Lewis rushed for 1,900 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also had 81 tackles, 12 pass break-ups and five interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.
In September, he’s had recruiting calls from Florida, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Vanderbilt, among others. He’s sporting offers from the Yellow Jackets, Volunteers and Demon Deacons.
“Those three who have offered are my top three right now,” he said. “I’m trying to get some visits set up with them. So far, I know of one. I’ll be going to Wake Forest on Oct. 4-5.”
Lewis said Florida State, Florida, LSU and Auburn are also possibilities, depending on who offers. He had reported an offer from Notre Dame earlier this summer, but says he hasn’t heard much from the Fighting Irish lately and isn’t sure where he stands with their staff.
He’s made three unofficial visits, including two games (Florida A&M, Tennessee) at Florida and Florida State’s game against Maryland.
“I’m just trying to learn as much about the schools as I can right now,” he said. “I’m not really sure who’s the favorite right now. I just like the ones who have offered the most.”
Academically, Lewis maintains a 3.3 GPA and will take his test in October.
