Fleetwood excited by Stanford offer

Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson safety Kyle Fleetwood didn't see it coming when Stanford offered him late last week.
"Their coach had Facebooked me and talked to me on there," Fleetwood said. "He came by our school and we talked again, but I wasn't expecting them to offer. We talked a good bit about the school. About an hour later, he offered. It kind of surprised me."

Maybe it shouldn't have.
After all, the 6-foot, 200-pounder has become one of the Atlanta area's most recruited juniors. At last check, he had 11 offers.
Right now, no teams have emerged as leaders.
"I want to wait until after spring practice, and see how it goes from there," Fleetwood said.
Thus far, Fleetwood has been to Georgia, South Carolina, South Florida and Vanderbilt. Besides the schools that have offered (Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville, LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, USF, Southern Miss, Stanford, Syracuse and Vanderbilt), Fleetwood said he is hearing from programs such as Alabama and Nebraska.
"Alabama might come around," Fleetwood said. "They send letters and things like that."
Regarding Stanford, Fleetwood said he hopes to make it out there for a visit sometime this summer if possible.
"It's a good school," Fleetwood said. "It's an elite school in college football, and I hear they have great academics, which is also good. I was really happy to get that offer."
