Flashy athlete has offers

Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw is home for one of the Golden State’s best all-around athletes. This young man brings a lot to the table and could end up playing running back, cornerback or wide receiver on the collegiate level.
Whoever signs Daymeion Hughes (5-11, 178, 4.5) will have the offensive and defensive coordinators lobbying the head coach to secure the skills of this one for their respective side of the ball.

Hughes has decent strength for a guy his size. He has recorded a 240 pound bench. At the Nike combine held at USC in April, Hughes benched 185 pounds, 13 times had a nice vertical jump of 30-inches.
Hughes was selected all-city and all-league as a running back after rushing for over 1,500 yards and 13 touchdowns his junior season. A super threat catching the ball out of the backfield, Hughes caught 40 passes for and three touchdowns. And for good measure Hughes even had a touchdown pass on his only attempt.
The entire Pac10 except Stanford and Washington State have shown interest in this SoCal athlete. UNLV, CSU, Wisconsin and Nebraska are also showing a lot of interest in Hughes.
Washington and Cal have already offered Hughes a scholie. Hughes is very interested in both the Huskies and the Bears.
Both Washington and Cal are doing a great job identifying talent so the offers from the Huskies and Bears look good on his resume.
Hughes claims he doesn’t have a leader yet.
“I have a top five though,” Hughes said. “They are UCLA, Washington, Michigan State, Oregon and Nebraska.”
The scouting report on Hughes is he brings can play several positions and help you on special teams. He has great natural ability and instincts.
As a running back Hughes is a great open field runner and will not let one tackler take him down.
As a defender he is physical and good in coverage.
What does Hughes want in a college?
“I would like to go to a school where I can get an opportunity to play early in my career,” Hughes said. “I want to play for a successful program that goes to Bowl games.”
“Academics are also very important to me,” Hughes said. “I want to attend an academically sound school.”
