Fla. WR shows off at Nike camp

When you go to a Nike camp there are always those players that you go in expecting big things from. Then there are others who you know about, but haven’t seen in person or on film and they catch your eye. One of those prospects at the Miami Nike camp was Coconut Creek (Fl.) North Broward wide receiver/defensive back Mike Moore.
The 6-foot-2, 190 pound Moore, who runs the 40 yard dash in 4.48 seconds, has certainly impressed the college coaches around the country.
“Florida, Miami, Florida State, Oklahoma, Georgia, Michigan State and Notre Dame send me handwritten all the time,” Moore said.
“I’m getting mail from all over the country really, from just about everybody. Michigan State told me that I had an offer once they got my transcripts and knew that I was qualified.”
As a junior Moore reeled in 42 catches for 850 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also intercepted six passes, taking two back for touchdowns as well as returning two punts for touchdowns.
“My number one school right now is Miami. After that it is Florida State, Florida, NC State, Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee.”
What is it that stands out about each of his favorites?
Miami-“They have a great tradition and they send a lot of players to the NFL. I grew up pulling for them as a kid.
Florida State-“They are always in the top ten and competing for championships. They also send a lot of guys to the NFL.”
Florida-“They have always been known for good receivers and it is close to home.”
NC State-“They recruit Florida real hard and I have a lot of friends up there.”
Georgia-“Our coach has connections up there and they think I could come in and play early as a safety.”
Ohio State-“They have been recruiting me longer than just about anybody and they told me coach I could play early.”
Tennessee-“They have great coaches and are always one of the top teams in the best conference.”
As a junior Moore earned 2nd team all state and all-county honors. He sports a 385 pound squat and 280 pound bench press.
