Fla. WR rising up the charts

Miami (Fla.) Archbishop Carroll standout Rodney Smith is blessed with some serious athleticism. The 6-5 and 205 pound wide receiver runs the 40 in the 4.5 range, vertical jumps 40 inches, has a standing broad jump of over 10 feet and runs a 4.2 pro shuttle. Those impressive numbers along with his improving ball skills have made him one of the hottest receivers in the south.
"I am a lot more explosive now than when I was last season," Smith said. "I honestly feel like there is no one out there that can cover me. Everything is coming together for me as a player.
"I really excel at going up and getting the ball. I know I will come down with it. I am big, fast and getting quicker. My blocker is better and improving as well.
Smith claims he now has scholarship offers from "20 to 25 schools." There are a few out there that he would love to land.
"I would really love to get an offer from Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, and USC. I think Ohio State will offer but I am not sure on the other three."
Florida International was the first to offer Smith with Boston College and Purdue both offering him last week.
"I guess you could say things really started happening in May. It was like the flood gates opened up. But I kind of knew this would happen, it just took a while. Right now I am just open.
Smith has been to Miami and South Florida.
"I know for sure I am going to FSU for a unofficial visit. I will take some more but I don't know to who yet.
"I am looking for early playing time, tradition, a good coaching staff, facilities, and some place I feel at home."
