Five-star WR has visit plans

New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton five-star wide receiver Tyron Johnson has made no secret the Texas Tech Red Raiders were high on his list. Coach Kevin Curtis has a firmly established relationship with Johnson and his family and he made it clear early on Johnson was a top priority.
Johnson made sure to schedule his first official visit to Lubbock, and when his first attempt fell through he re-scheduled. Johnson took the official visit the weekend of October 10 as the Red Raiders also hosted the West Virginia Mountaineers.

It was Johnson's first time in Lubbock and the visit left a strong impression.
"I really had a nice time," Johnson said. "The atmosphere was great. It was an overall good visit."
He took in the sights and the sounds. He hung out with the team. He talked with Rivals100 Texas Tech quarterback commitment Jarrett Stidham. He experienced as much as he could in one weekend, and one aspect of the visit stood above the rest.
"Just the size and all that," Johnson said. "Texas Tech I didn't know it was going to be a good atmosphere like it was."
Following the visit the Red Raiders remain high on his list, and at this time he does now have any other official visit plans. However, he does plan to take a few more visits.
"Yeah, I'm waiting until after the season to schedule those," Johnson said.
He also has a few unofficial visit plans. In a couple of weeks he plans to visit Baton Rouge for the LSU/Alabama game, and he also wants to visit Georgia.
He also has a few plans when it comes to narrowing his list of college choices. In August he named a top 10 of Texas A&M, Texas Tech, LSU, Clemson, Georgia, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Florida, and Tennessee, and he is looking to narrow his list.
"No, I should be doing it shortly," Johnson said. "Probably around playoff time I'll do it."
While recruiting is in full swing for the standout wide receiver, he remains focused on his senior season. Warren Easton is primed for a strong playoff run and sits at 7-1 on the season. On Friday they face 7-1 Landry-Walker in one of New Orleans' most anticipated games of the season.
"Yeah it's going to be a good game," Johnson said. "I'm looking forward to the competition, they have good DBs."
Johnson is currently ranked No. 13 in the Rivals100, No. 2 among the nation's 2015 wide receivers, and No. 1 in the Rivals.com Louisiana Preseason Top 50.
