Five-star Walls closes in on decision

Five-star cornerback Darrin Walls out of Pittsburgh (Pa.) Woodland Hills is looking at setting up a press conference to announce his college decision before his October 14th visit to Notre Dame. Does this mean the Irish are out of it for the 6-foot-0, 172-pounder with 4.4-second speed?
"I haven't set up an official press conference yet, but I'm looking at probably doing it on October 3rd," he said. "I still plan to take the official to Notre Dame on October 14th, but I want to decide before I go on the visit. I know Notre Dame will still let me come on my visit even if I don't decide to go to their school, but I just want to decide beforehand.

"I am down to Pittsburgh, Michigan, Florida and Notre Dame as the teams I'm looking at. I think I can judge Notre Dame without the official visit as I've been there three or four times unofficially."
The No. 24 player in the country went on to talk about each of his favorites.
"First off, I like the coaching staffs at all the schools and I have a really close relationship with all of them," he said. "I like the weather at Florida and the opportunity to play early. I like coach English at Michigan because he's known for putting defensive backs in the NFL. I also like the way they play defense with a lot of man and blitzing. I like the graduation rate at Notre Dame and the opportunity to play early and the coaches a lot too. Finally, Pittsburgh's coaching staff is great. I've known coach Junko and Rhoads for a long time and I know that a corner is graduating after this year so the opportunity to play there is great."
This weekend Walls may take an unofficial visit to West Virginia before making his decision.
"I just want to see the academic part of the school and sort of get the experience from there."
Last weekend was the No. 1 cornerback in the nation's homecoming where Walls was named homecoming king at Woodland Hills.
"We had a lot of fun and it was a good weekend," he said. "We played Penn-Trafford and won 35-7. I didn't play too much because of my shoulder, but I had three receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown. I didn't play on defense because my coach didn't want me to go out and hit people.
