Five-star Sweat out for year

On Friday morning, a week after dislocating his left knee, five-star defensive end Josh Sweat learned that his high school football career is over. The Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith star did not suffer any nerve or arterial damage but he will still require season ending surgery.
Sweat family released the following statement:

"We as a family decided that he wasn't going to play anymore this season to make sure when he goes to college he can start as a true freshman and be able to play at 110 percent."
Sweat, whose top contenders are Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Florida State and Oregon, is not in any danger of losing his scholarships.
"Yes, (Josh will have surgery) but (it's) nothing that's going to interfere with his recruitment," said Sweat's mother. "All the colleges are aware of his…surgery."
The only school that Sweat, an early enrollee, has taken an official visit to is Ohio State. Last weekend, Sweat was supposed to travel to Blacksburg for his Virginia Tech official visit but his untimely injury prevented that. Sweat had scheduled official visits to Georgia (October 3), Florida State (October 17) and Oregon (October 31).
With his surgery and rehab looming in the not to distant future, expect the 6-foot-4, 236-pound Sweat to alter his official visit schedule and commitment timetable. Sweat is expected to make a full recovery and fulfill his potential at a school of his choosing.
