Five-star RB Summers down to three

One of the nation's finest running backs has narrowed
the field down to three teams.

"I've got three visits," said Lexington (S.C.) standout
Demetris Summers, the top player
in the Palmetto State and a five-star member of the
Rivals100 team. "I'll be going to
Florida on Jan. 10, South Carolina on Jan. 17 and Clemson on Jan. 24.
"I don't think I'll be making any other visits unless
something changes. I was thinking about Georgia, but they told me they have all
the running backs they need and I didn't need to bother with coming over there.
That kind of surprised me."
Miami, Florida State and Tennessee had also reportedly made offers to Summers (6-1, 200, 4.6).
Summers said he doesn't have a leader at this point,
although the nearby Gamecocks have long been linked as his most likely
destination. He's had visits from each of his top teams within the last two
weeks.
"Coach (Joker) Phillips from South Carolina was here
Sunday," he said. "We had coach (Larry) Fedora from Florida in here last week
and coach (Brad) Scott from Clemson two weeks ago. They all seem like good
coaches to play for. They've all got something to say about their program that
makes me real interested."
Summers wrapped up his senior season by
rushing 240 times for 2,373 yards and 21 touchdowns.
