Five-star RB lives up to rep

Five-star running back Jonathan Stewart (5-10, 224, 4.5) from Lacey (Wash.) Timberlane is living up to his billing as one of the nation’s best running backs. Stewart has been extremely productive this season helping Lacey get off to a 2-0 record thus far this season.
Though Stewart has only played in the first half of both of his first two games, he has made the most of his time on the pitch.

In two games, Stewart has rushed for 338 yards and has scored four rushing touchdowns. He has returned one punt 60 yards for a touchdown and had another 89 yard punt return called back. Stewart has also made the most of his one reception that went 35 yards for a touchdown.
Stewart was named MVP at the NIKE Camp held in June and he was his League’s MVP as a junior after rushing for 2,600 yards and scoring 36 touchdowns. He was also an all-state selection as a junior.
Stewart is a play waiting to happen.
Pound for pound, Stewart is one of the strongest running backs in the nation. His bench is 360 and his squat is 575. Though he clocked a 4.5 at the NIKE Camp, his best 40 time is 4.35.
How good is it going for Stewart on the recruiting front? Just last week he received offers from SEC powerhouse schools Tennessee and Florida.
Besides the two SEC schools, Stewart has offers from every school in the Pac-10 except USC and UCLA, plus he has an offer from Duke for a total of 11 offers.
All 11 schools plus many more have called since September 1st rolled around.
“I haven’t sat down and set up any visits,” Stewart said. “I will probably take a couple of visits during the season and some of after the season is over.”
“I will probably take all five visits before I make up my mind,” Stewart said. “I am very open and undecided on visits.”
Stewart will be in Pullman this weekend (September 18th) to take in the Washington State-Idaho game.
Stewart is a member of the Rivals.com Rivals100 team and landed as the nation’s number 24 prospect at any position for the class 2005. Rivals.com ranks Stewart as the nation’s number four running back prospect and he’s ranked by Rivals.com as the State of Washington’s number one prospect at any position.
