Five-Star RB Confused

Newport News (Va.) Heritage running back Mike Johnson heard more interesting Miami news the other day.
“I guess Clinton Portis has decided to turn pro,” said the 5-foot-10, 180-pound back of the Miami junior. “That opens things up a bit there.”

Johnson was already excited about Miami after his official visit in December and after watching the ‘Canes win the national title. Now Portis is gone and Miami is telling him he could be second-string at tailback as a freshman behind Frank Gore.
“I’m just real confused now,” he said with a laugh. “I like Miami a lot and I like Virginia too and it’s getting harder every day to decide. I can’t really say I have a favorite and I need to do some thinking on this.”
Johnson is set to visit Virginia on Jan. 18 and might trip to Tennessee this weekend as well.
“I haven’t heard anything from Tennessee in a while so who knows,” he said. “I probably won’t decide until late January anyhow.”
