Five-star Peoples-Jones books his first official visit

Five-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones will have one of the most-watched recruitments this fall, and the Detroit Cass Tech product heightened that interest on Wednesday when he announced the destination of his first official visit.

WHAT’S NEXT: Nebraska will host Peoples-Jones this upcoming weekend for their season opener against Fresno State in Lincoln on Saturday night. It is a huge official visit weekend for the Cornhuskers, featuring at least two other five-stars as well as Peoples-Jones’ teammate, safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell. Peoples-Jones is expected to take all five of his official visits before making his college selection, which will be done before the start of second semester because the five-star plans to enroll in college mid-year.

IN HIS WORDS: “(I’m) looking forward to experiencing an emphatic fan base and a chance to get coached up by a really talented receiver coach.”

RIVALS’ REACTION: Nebraska has been regularly mentioned as a top contender for Detroit Cass Tech three-star safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell, but they have not been associated with Peoples-Jones nearly as prominently. Last January Peoples-Jones came out with a top ten schools, but the five-star has backed away from claiming that top group, or any top group, over the last several months and that is evidenced by the fact that Nebraska was not among his original top ten. Peoples-Jones has mentioned in recent weeks that Florida and Florida State are likely to receive two of his official visits, but those have not been scheduled as of yet. Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Tennessee are other top contenders for his services.
