A five-star passer is set to enter the transfer portal. According to multiple reports Wednesday, LSU quarterback Walker Howard is planning to enter his name in the transfer portal. The rising redshirt freshman will have four years of eligibility at his next school.

Howard made just two appearances during his lone season with LSU, completing 2 of 4 passes for 7 yards during the Tigers’ 63-7 Citrus Bowl win over Purdue. The Lafayette, Louisiana native was rated as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback and No. 20 overall player in last year’s recruiting class. He chose LSU over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Notre Dame among others.

Howard was currently third on LSU’s depth chart behind starter Jayden Daniels and redshirt freshman Garrett Nussmeier. With Daniels and Nussmeier set to return to the Tigers’ Howard was expected to hold a limited role on next year’s team. Still, LSU head coach Brian Kelly said last week that he “absolutely 100%” believed all three quarterbacks were going to remain with the team. Along with the return of Daniels and Nussmeier LSU also brought in four-star freshman Rickie Collins as an early enrolee this year.
