Five-star LB enjoys trip

There is a very good reason that Rey Maualuga (6-2, 235, 4.5) from Eureka, Calif., is rated as five-star linebacker. In three games, Maualuga has already racked up 43 tackles and has picked off two passes, one that he brought back for a touchdown.
Maualuga has already taken two visits. His first visit was to Nebraska on September 3rd.

“Nebraska went very good,” Maualuga said. “I had a lot of fun.”
“I was able to interact with the Nebraska players as well as the coaches,” Maualuga said. “I learned a lot about the school.”
“It also went good on my Oregon trip,” Maualuga said. “I have nothing but good things to say about Oregon.”
“The facilities are impressive,” Maualuga said. “Oregon is right there with Nebraska and USC as my top three schools.”
“I will probably take visits to Oklahoma and Notre Dame.”
Maualuga already has a visit set to USC right before the Holidays on December 10th.
Maualuga was selected all-state and all-county for his junior season performance after racking 110 solo tackles, 36 assists for a total of 146 tackles. He also had an outstanding 43 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and one interception.
Another impressive stat that Maualuga achieved was he had four defensive touchdowns and five offensive touchdowns as a junior.
“Rey brings a tremendous combination of desire, competitiveness and athleticism,” Eureka coach Jack Lakin said in an earlier interview. “He likes to play the game at a high level of physical play. Ray is the real deal.”
Real deal indeed.
