Five-star defensive end says hes a Terp

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The rumors of Melvin Alaeze's commitment to Maryland have been flying around for days now at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Well the rumors are rumors no more. The nation's No. 1 strongside defensive end has made up his mind, and he's heading to Maryland.
"I just felt like staying home was the best decision all along," Alaeze, who is 6-foot-2 and 277 pounds, said.
"I had a lot of other great options, but I want to play for the Terrapins. It's just the smart decision for me to make. I can stay close to home, be close to family and play in a very good conference against the best of the best."
Alaeze is ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Maryland. He announced his decision live on NBC just moments ago from the Alamo Dome.
