Who says you can’t go home again?
Five-star defensive end Nate Marshall has committed to Michigan again. The Chicago (Ill.) Fenwick superstar committed to Auburn back in August. But now coach Sherrone Moore’s first commit as Michigan coach is back in the fold just one day before National Signing Day.
Marshall is the 21st known commitment for Michigan in the 2025 recruiting class. He’s now the second five-star in the class joining quarterback Bryce Underwood. The Wolverines have been on an incredible run that started on Nov. 1 with the flip of four-star defensive back Shamari Earls.
On the field, Michigan is getting an excellent player. Marshall has a basketball background which you can see in the way that he moves around on the football field. His combination of size and athleticism allows him to dominate on Friday nights on both offense and defense.
The biggest reason he’s been such a coveted defensive lineman is because he can play any spot along the defensive front. He has the agility to stand up and play more of an EDGE type role. He’s got the size and strength to play a traditional defensive end. The night I saw him play his team let him line up at defensive tackle and cause havoc from that spot.
Marshall was a huge win for the Wolverines when they landed him the first time. That remains the case this time around too. Landing elite players from the region is a high priority for this staff. Getting the Chicago native back in the fold is just another sign that Michigan is among the hottest teams in college football right now.
