Class of 2016 five-star defensive end Shavar Manuel of Tampa Blake said he doesn't have a favorite thus far, but mentioned Miami, Florida State and Virginia Tech as schools in his ear the most.
He also said he wants to take visits to the Notre Dame at Florida State game Oct. 18 and the Florida State at Miami game on Nov. 15.
"I have no leader so far," the 6-foot-3, 262-pound Manuel said. "I'm going to do my research in the offseason to see where I fit within defensive schemes and get the best education."
Virginia Tech is a school to keep an eye on. The Hokies may be a long shot, but in their corner is Blake assistant and former Hokie Anthony Davis, who parlayed and undrafted signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers into an NFL career that lasted six seasons.
Davis has been a mentor of Manuel's since Manuel arrived on campus.
"The fact that (Davis) played there, that plays a big role," Manuel said. "I know I can fit there, but I'm taking my time and I'm going to let everything marinate and then I'll know."
The Hurricanes have the advantage of being closer to home, but Manuel has never actually seen the campus.
"I honestly haven't been there yet," Manuel said. "I want to see a game though. I like where I can fit in on the defensive side of the ball. They're telling me I can fit right into their scheme and I can see that. They have a young quarterback and they have a young defensive coordinator."
Manuel has been to Florida State twice.
"I know (assistant) coach Sal (Sunseri) and he wants me bad," Manuel said. "He's recruiting me hard and he stays in contact with me. He tells me how I fit in his defense. I was supposed to go there for the Clemson game (on Saturday) but I was worn out after my game (on Friday)."
While schools are wanting him on campus, the only game he's attended this season is nearby USF for its season-opening game against Western Carolina.
Maunel appears focused on his season thus far and his numbers reflect that. He already has 10.5 sacks on the season.
