It wasn't such a shocker when news broke that five-star defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick committed to Alabama. The Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep star committed during a visit to Alabama for their spring game.

"The last three days we've been here were a lot of fun," said the 6-foot, 193-pound Fitzpatrick. "I talked with a lot of coaches and good people. I got to speak with a couple of commits and a few players and I heard a lot of good stuff so I decided to commit."
It was a special moment for Fitzpatrick when he told Nick Saban he wanted to play for the Crimson Tide.
"I told Coach Saban," he said. "I told him I had a great experience working with him in the summer, had great experience down there this weekend, I really enjoyed the visit so I want to commit to the University of Alabama."
Three different factors convinced Fitzpatrick that Alabama was the place for him.
"I really liked the environment," Fitzpatrick said. "People say it's an extremely serious environment, but you get to have time to relax and hang out with everybody.
"I have family down here so it's not like I'm going somewhere I'm not used to being," he said. "If I'm homesick, I can just go an hour away and see my family.
"The football experience is one of a kind, there's nothing really like it in the country," added Fitzpatrick. "It's one of the best universities ever, one of the best coaches ever to coach the game and I feel like I can learn from him and become one of the best players in the country and the best player I can be."
Fitzpatrick is currently the ninth overall prospect in the Rivals100.
