Five-Star Challenge: Underclassmen to watch

Recruiting Wrap: Ohio State is the leader for Grimes, but Florida State and Miami also have his attention.
The Skinny: Rated five-stars when the Rivals100 to Watch List for the 2017 class was released last winter, the 6-foot-4, 193-pound Grimes brings both size and speed to the wide receiver position. He will continue to fill out his frame as his prep career progresses and comfortably play north of 200 pounds in college, but already handles the physical aspects of the position very well. Speed is also a strength for Grimes; the question is will his playmaking ability show through against a loaded group of defensive backs?

DB
DeAngelo Gibbs
Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge (2017)
Recruiting Wrap: Gibbs holds more than two dozen offers and plans to visit Arizona State, Auburn, Stanford, UCLA and USC this summer.
The Skinny: Another five-star in the 2017 class, Gibbs is also making a return visit to Baltimore for his second Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge appearance. A year ago, the question was whether the 6-foot-1, 199-pound Gibbs was a better wide receiver or safety prospect at the college level, but he answered that question definitively by excelling at safety for Team Highlight. Look for Gibbs to own the deep middle with his size, range and impressive ball skills when the 7-on-7 competition begins Saturday night.

QB
Joey Gatewood
Jacksonville (Fla.) Bartram Trail (2018)
Recruiting Wrap: Florida and Florida State are the early leaders among more than 20 scholarship offers.
The Skinny: The only class of 2018 prospect headed to Baltimore this year, the 6-foot-3, 216-pound Gatewood will have no problem fitting in physically or with his talent. There are aspects of Gatewood's game that are still developing, but arm strength, footwork and his impressive frame are ahead of the curve. An early contender for the top prospect in his class, the question will be how does Gatewood react when he is the youngest in a collection of the nation's top prospects?

DB
Devon Hunter
Chesapeake (Va.) Indian River (2017)
Recruiting Wrap: Hunter holds close to 30 offers and is still wide open. He most recently visited Georgia and plans to visit Alabama, Florida State and Clemson this summer.
The Skinny: Hunter heads to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge after a very strong showing at Rivals Camp Series: Richmond in April. A five-star prospect in the 2017 class, the 6-foot-1, 206-pound Hunter uses his size to his advantage, but has the discipline to not let wide receivers get deep on him. He has plus coverage skills for the position, and combined with his size and ball skills, brings a well-rounded game to Baltimore.

DT
Marvin Wilson
Houston (Texas) Episcopal (2017)
Recruiting Wrap: Wilson just landed his first offer in February from Texas Tech, but in the three months since has added nearly 20 more offers.
The Skinny: Wilson was part of a deep defensive line group at RCS: Dallas in March, and nearly came away with the position MVP award. What impressed us so much about the rising junior at that event was his competitive drive and desire to take as many reps as possible. At 6-foot-5 and 306 pounds, Wilson has great size for the three-technique defensive tackle position and shows a quick first step and good lateral agility.

CB
Richard LeCounte
Riceboro (Ga.) Liberty County (2017)
Recruiting Wrap: LeCounte does not list a leader, but recently cited Florida State, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, Florida and Miami as the schools showing the most interest.
The Skinny: LeCounte returns to Baltimore after being ranked as one of the top defensive back performers at the 2014 Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge. The four-star rising junior showed exceptional coverage skills, quickness and agility since early in his prep career, but now he has a year of growth -- both physically and developmentally -- under his belt. The 5-foot-11, 177-pound cornerback will not be intimidated after success at this event last year, and is expected to be one of the best cover corners in Baltimore.

QB
Shawn Robinson
Denton (Texas) Guyer (2017)
Recruiting Wrap: Robinson holds 17 offers and is considering visits to Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and USC this summer.
The Skinny: Robinson was one of the three highest-rated quarterback prospects in the 2017 class when the Rivals100 Watch List was released this past winter. He has continued to impress this off-season and will look to continue that momentum when he heads to Baltimore. A dual-threat quarterback, what we will be watching from the 6-foot-2, 194-pound Texan is how he is developing as a passer, and whether his arm mechanics and footwork are progressing.
9
CB
Lamont Wade
Clairton, Pa. (2017)
Recruiting Wrap: Wade recently listed a top six of Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, UCLA and West Virginia.
The Skinny: There are very few things about Wade that suggest he has just finished his sophomore year of high school. The 5-foot-10, 186-pound four-star is put together well with outstanding feet and the confidence usually possessed by older defensive backs. He has the strength to jam wide receivers at the line of scrimmage and the recovery speed to make up for any errors. Do not be surprised if Wade ends the weekend in Baltimore among the top defensive backs.

ATH
Maleik Gray
La Vergne, Tenn. (2017)
Recruiting Wrap: Gray listed Florida State as his leader this spring, but is also interested in Tennessee, LSU and USC.
The Skinny: The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Gray is an athlete prospect who could project to multiple positions in college, but he will coming into the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge to play linebacker. A long-armed prospect that is very comfortable in space, Gray should excel in the coverage, athleticism and ball skills requirements for the position. The question is whether he can be as physical as needed as a linebacker.
