Five-Star Challenge: Three matchups we're looking forward to

The most intriguing part of nearly any football camp is the one-on-one segment. Get roughly 100 of the best players in the country involved, and that statement becomes doubly true. So when the competition gets going at next week’s Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour at Atlanta's Georgia Dome, there will be plenty to watch. Below are the three one-on-one battles to which we’re most looking forward.

DB Lamont Wade vs. WR Trevon Grimes

The skinny: A matchup between the nation’s No. 1 cornerback and the country’s top receiver is intriguing enough. That fact that it will put the undersized Wade up against a larger, physical wideout makes it even more interesting. Grimes will push Wade in a way that he’s rarely tested, as the taller targets Wade sees on a regular basis don’t posses the burst of the elite Grimes. The North-versus-South thing is just a bonus.

Predicted winner: Grimes

DT Marvin Wilson vs. OL Walker Little

The skinny: Wilson and Little are teammates at the high school level, so it’s not as though the matchup has never taken place. In fact, the two squared off at the Dallas stop of this year’s Rivals Camp Series. Little barely edged out Wilson at that time, but the Wilson is the nation’s top defensive tackle for a reason. Everyone loves a rematch, and, due to the circumstances, Wilson should be especially motivated when he lines up against Little.

Projected winner: Wilson

LB Baron Browning vs. RB Najee Harris

The skinny: Harris is hard to hold in one-on-one work. His speed and size make him a mismatch for most linebackers. If there’s anyone that can stay with him, it just might be Browning, who excels in pass coverage. That said, Browning will have both of his hands full, as some think Harris could be a highly-ranked wide receiver if he weren’t a running back. Linebackers are at a built-in disadvantage in one-on-one passing drills, so it will be considered a win if Browning is able to hold his own down field.

Predicted winner: Harris
