Five-Star Academy tour kicks off in Dallas
DALLAS Rivals.com's Five-Star Academies have been a staple of the recruiting calendar for years and this past weekend, Rivals was in two of the most talented areas of the country to kick off the Five-Star Academy tour for 2010. The first stop was in Dallas at Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the campus of SMU to get a glimpse at some of the elite talent from the Dallas Metroplex all the way up to Oklahoma.

Among the talented prospects throughout the region, one of the top players in attendance was Oklahoma commit Kameel Jackson. Jackson was measured at an even six feet and weighed 198 pounds, showing that he can be a physical receiver at the next level.
Jackson was the only committed prospect in attendance but several other highly recruited players made an appearance. Dallas (Texas) Bryan Adams safety LeShundrick Morrison has seen his stock climb steadily of late with offers from Minnesota and Missouri following his initial offer from Texas Tech. Morrison measured in at 5-10.5 and a solid 180 pounds.
A safety with a similar build that has added some offers of late was Quentin Sargent out of Arlington (Texas) Bowie. Sargent measured in at 5-11 and weighed 163 pounds.
Out of DeSoto, quarterback Ryan Polite was one of the more recognizable names in attendance. With plans to once again quarterback one of the most talented teams in the area, Polite, at 6-foot-1 and 201 pounds, looked anxious for the spring to kick off.
At the running back position, Kenneth Farrow out of Hurst (Texas) L.D. Bell looked the part at running back weighing a sturdy 193 pounds at 5-foot-10. His teammate and quarterback James Mauro is certainly an intriguing prospect. Though he's yet to pick up his first offer, Mauro has a great frame at 6-foot-6.5 and 211 pounds and could be a name to watch down the road.
Even at an event like this, sleepers emerge. Thomas McDonald out of Corsicana is a name that many people may not recognize as he sat out his junior season due to transfer rules. As a sophomore though, McDonald earned all-state honors at safety and also is expecting to play quarterback at Corsicana. As an underclassman, McDonald picked up a handful of BCS verbal offers and is a name primed to emerge this spring and fall. McDonald has the look of an athlete at 6-foot-3 and 177 pounds.
Some powerhouse programs will continue to reload with some of the attendants at the Academy. Dallas (Texas) Skyline loses its quarterback in Javia Hall to graduation and the University of North Texas. A possibility to fill in for him is 6-foot-1, 177-pound sophomore Lutrell Thomas. Thomas could also line up at wide receiver or safety due to his athleticism.
Finally, if looks are any indication of ability, Brent Pritchett is one to watch. He has yet to pick up any scholarship offers but at 6-foot-5, 296-pounds, and with very little bad weight on him, Pritchett is a defensive tackle that has plenty of upside, if nothing else.
