Five standouts for R100 DE Johnson

A large group of visitors from New Jersey made their way up to Michigan last weekend and one of them was Rivals100 defensive end Ron Johnson. The Wolverines are in very good position with the Camden, N.J. standout.
"Michigan was really fun," said the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Johnson. "I had a good time. They showed us the stadium and the facilities are the top-of-the-line. I met the coaches and they were really cool. I think they're pretty high on my list after that visit. My coaching staff is from New Jersey. That really shocked me. They had some good guys that showed us a good time. That connection drew me towards them."

Johnson learned a lot from his talks with the coaching staff.
"We talked about how I would fit in the program," he said. "They broke down my film and showed me my mistakes. It's going to help me get better. They compared me to some of their players. They said I could be a hybrid guy, I could have my hand in the ground or stand up like Terrell Suggs. The defensive coordinator was the coach for the Ravens."
Like many of the players that are interested in Michigan, the academic programs at Michigan are attractive to Johnson.
"The academic advisor was explaining how all the Michigan graduates are part of a program that sets them up for life after football," Johnson said. "You can go to league and then come back. I know that I would always be all right and be living good."
Johnson has a few more visits set up.
"Next week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we're going to visit some ACC and SEC schools," he said. "I think it will be North Carolina, South Carolina and possibly Virginia Tech. We're still working them out."
There are a lot of schools that are interested in Johnson but five of them are really standing out.
"Ohio State, Michigan, South Carolina, Miami, North Carolina, Rutgers, Alabama and Temple are the schools that are really recruiting me a lot," said Johnson. "I don't think I have a leader. Some of the schools I'm really interested in are Michigan, Ohio State, South Carolina, Miami and Alabama."
As a junior, Johnson had 84 tackles and ten sacks.
