One of the top linemen we've seen on the NIKE Camp tour this year has been Crown Point (Ind.) offensive lineman Kurt Wermers. Wermers has taken a handful of unofficial visits this Spring and said five schools top his list right now.
Wermers, 6-3, 280 pounds is one of the top linemen in the Midwest and was rated among the top two OLs at the NIKE Camp at Purdue. Wermers projects as a guard in college and he showed off the strength and all-around ability that has led to a slew of early offers.
He has solid technique and good feet and should be quite a load in college at around 290-300 pounds when he physically matures. We also like his toughness and work ethic. Wermers is a competitive kid and has a nice upside at the college level.

On the recruiting front, Wermers has offers from schools all over the region and talked glowingly about his most recent unofficial visit.
"I checked out UCLA a few weeks back and loved it there," Wermers said. "UCLA has a great campus and I really enjoyed myself. California is a beautiful place and I excited about the opportunity to get out there and check things out. This is a once in a lifetime experience for me, being able to travel and see some of these colleges so I'm really loving it every minute of it."
Wermers said he would like to make an early decision, likely before the summer hits.
"I just want to have fun my senior year and just be a kid so I want to have the decision out of the way and just not worry about it," Wermers said. "I don't have a leader or even a top three right now but my top five, in no order, would be UCLA, Michigan, Iowa, Northwestern and Purdue.
"My older brother goes to Purdue and I'm sure he would love for me to be a Boilermaker but I'm open to all five of those schools right now and will start to really narrow things down in the near future here."
