Sam Barrington (6-3,220 pounds) is a linebacker prospect having a big year for Jacksonville (Fla.) Terry Parker High School. They are 4-1, coming off a 33-30 double overtime win. There only loss was to Jacksonville (Fla.) Lee in week one 16-13.
Over the first five games, Barrington has 40 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, and two sacks. He also has rushed the ball 46 times for 486 yards and scored nine touchdowns.
"I jump around all over the place," Barrington said. "Right now I feel comfortable on both sides of the ball. Defensively I adjust to the team's strengths. Last week we were playing against the spread and I was playing outside linebacker. This week we are playing a power team and I will play in the box.

"I have improved so much. I got my game speed up. I have a lot of improving to do at running back. Like I said I have a good feel about everything."
According to Barrington he has 26 scholarship offers. Five schools currently stand out.
"I like Purdue and will visit them on November 7th. I know I will visit Clemson in December but I can't remember the exact date. I am setting up a visit with Illinois tonight or tomorrow. Florida is also coming in the picture. Coach (Dan) Mullen called me yesterday to wish me a happy birthday. I also like coach (Steve) Spurrier, Jr and I will likely take an official to South Carolina.
"Right now I am pretty much open."
