Five stand out for Holt

Encino (Calif.) Crespi's D.J. Holt is one of the most versatile athletes in the entire West region. He's getting looks at linebacker and defensive end on the defensive side of the ball as well as fullback on offense and has a solid top five at this time.
Holt first caught our eye during his sophomore season when he earned all-state underclass honors. The athlete earned all-state underclass honors for the second year in a row last year while leading Crespi to back to back CIF titles. He totaled 72 tackles and 12 sacks and also caught 48 balls for 840 yards and 10 touchdowns while playing receiver.

On the recruiting front, Holt has said he would like to play linebacker in college, the position he worked out at the NIKE Camp in Stanford last Spring.
"Most schools like me as an athlete but I think linebacker is where I would fit in best," Holt said. "I went to USC's summer camp and they had me working out with the fullbacks. They're really the only school that is looking at me on offense, just about everyone else likes me as a linebacker or defensive end.
"I don't have any new offers right now, basically the same schools are still recruiting me. Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, USC and UCLA are my top schools and I have offers from ASU and Oregon. With our season coming up, I really don't want to spend too much time on recruiting.
"I'll probably do what Sione (Fua, former teammate who signed with Stanford) did last year and that's just go through the season and then once we're done, I'll take all my official visits after the season is over. I want anything to distract from our season and I'm in no hurry to make a decision right now anyway."
