Five offers for Allen

Defensive end Zach Allen of New Canaan, Conn. has quietly picked up several additional offers as he has positioned himself as a recruit to watch over the coming year. With these new offers, Allen has also scheduled a few more visits, which will begin shortly.
"I got a few offers and I scheduled junior days and unofficial visits," said Allen, who is 6-foot-5 and 242 pounds.

Now with five offers, Allen gave a bit of info about each of them.
"My first offer was Pitt and I am planning to visit later this month," he said. "Boston College was my second offer and I am visiting February 16th. UMass, Virginia, and Yale came in shortly thereafter. I'm visiting Virginia in early March and I visited Yale a couple of weeks ago."
Allen also mentioned that Rutgers, Duke, Princeton, Penn State, Missouri, UConn, Nebraska and Northwestern are other schools that have yet to offer but have definitely been showing increased interest. Now with five offers, Allen is obviously excited about his situation.
"It feels great," he said. "They are all terrific schools and have solid football programs."
Allen was asked if any schools are currently standing out.
"No, I'm still open to everything and I'm looking forward to the visits," he said. "I hope to learn more about the football programs, the coaching staffs, the schools in general and how I would fit in."
While he may not have any current favorites, Allen does know what he is looking for in a school and program.
"Academics, a strong football program and a solid alumni network," he said.
Allen finished his junior season with 81 tackles, 11.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception and a blocked punt.
