Five favorites for Dixon

Bryce Dixon has been figuring out favorites and the Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure tight end has settled on a top five with some heavy hitters on the list.
"I got a permanent five with UCLA, USC, Oregon, Miami and ASU," Dixon said.

The next step for the four-star prospect is to schedule more official visits. Dixon has already booked his trip to Oregon for Oct. 19 when the Ducks host Washington State. He said Miami and Arizona State will probably get officials and then he's still working on the other two.
If USC and UCLA don't get official visits, Dixon said it's no sign either program is trailing in his recruitment, it's just that both are so close he'd prefer to travel further for trips.
"I'm going to be taking my officials," Dixon said. "I already have one lined up to Oregon on October 19. I'm going to work on those other four.
"Since USC and UCLA are so close I might take one to Florida or Texas, some schools further away from home."
The five schools have emerged as frontrunners for Dixon, rated as the No. 11 tight end in the 2014 class by Rivals.com, and official trips will be crucial in his decision-making process.
Since Dixon doesn't plan to finalize anything until right after his senior season, the four-star tight end has plenty of time to figure out which place fits best.
"My decision time is probably going to be in November, maybe like right after the season," Dixon said. "I want to take my trips first.
"I just want to hang out with the people and see what the lifestyle is like. I want to see what it's going to be like there if I'm going to be living there for four years. It's pretty much dead-even between those five schools."
In total, Dixon lists offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Kentucky, Miami, New Mexico State, Ohio State, Oregon, Purdue, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, Utah, Vanderbilt, Washington and Washington State.
