Defensive end Jayson Oweh’s quick rise to stardom has given him a lot to think about. The Blairstown (N.J.) Blair Academy star has added many major offers recently and a few have caught his eye.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Harvard are doing the best with me right now,” Oweh said. “I’ve been to Penn State before this past weekend so I’ve really seen everything. Trying on the uniform and seeing myself as a Lion was great. It felt good.

“Ohio State is a great program,” he said. “Urban Meyer is a great coach, a legend really. Coach Johnson is a really good defensive line coach. If I go there I’d be so happy to work under him and get better. He would develop me because I’m still new to the game.

“Notre Dame has a legendary program,” said Oweh. “They’re independent so that means they could play anyone. It’s a great organization, a great coaching staff, and great academics.

“Wisconsin went to the Big Ten Championship four times recently,” he said. “That’s more times than schools like Penn State and Ohio State so they’re doing something right. They have really good academics too.

“My parents went to Harvard and really my whole family went there,” Oweh said. “Knowing I have that option means that I’m doing really well academically.

“Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Georgia all caught my eye,” he said. “Georgia is a great SEC school. That’s like the primetime conference.

“Penn State, Ohio State, and Wisconsin do a great job staying in touch with me and coming by my school,” said Oweh. “They’ve all gotten to know me pretty well. The Wisconsin coaches have built a strong relationship with me. In a short time, coach Johnson and coach Schiano from Ohio State have as well.

“I want to try to commit during the season,” he said. “If not, I’ll commit after the season before December.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

Oweh’s recruitment has really taken off but Penn State is in the best position right now. He visited Happy Valley for the second time on Saturday and really enjoyed his time there. A commitment doesn’t seem imminent though. Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Notre Dame will all get a closer look from Oweh. One of the unknown factors with Oweh is the pull to the Ivy League at Blair Academy. Both of his parents went to Harvard and there is a chance he ends up going that route.
