FIU looking at JUCO linebacker

Los Angeles Pierce College linebacker Stephen Johnson may get to head home. The talented prospect, who is originally from Plantation, Fla., has been getting serious interest from South Florida Sun Belt program Florida International.
"FIU came out about a week or two ago to check on me," Johnson said. "I am getting ready to go home on Friday and I'm going to go visit and take my tape and see if they are going to offer.

"The coach said (on the phone) that more than likely that they are, but it's a process that they have to go through. All of the coaches want to watch me."
Golden Panthers graduate assistant coach John Navarro has been recruiting Johnson for FIU.
Kansas State is another program that is showing Johnson interest.
"I just got a handwritten letter," Johnson said. "They wanted me to come out to their summer practice, but I am not going to be able to do that one."
After heading back to Florida for the summer, Johnson will return to Los Angeles in mid-July to begin workouts at Pierce College in preparation for his final junior college season.
