Fisher Jr. sets up first official visit

Kelvin Fisher Jr. plans to take a few official visits before making a commitment and the Gilbert (Ariz.) Higley athlete has scheduled his first one to Washington when it hosts Oregon State on Oct. 16.
"I've been talking to them more and more probably about twice a week now," Fisher said. "They'll give me a call once a week and I'll e-mail them throughout the week. We've been talking pretty much through the summer.

"I don't really know much about their campus yet but I know about their program. I like what the coaches are doing up there and that's why I'm going to take an official just to see what they're all about."
Rivals.com rates Fisher, a 5-foot-11, 173-pound three-star prospect, as the No. 38 athlete nationally and eighth in the Arizona state rankings. He finished with 819 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 113 carries last season.
Washington's official visit is booked and now Fisher is looking to set up a few more with Oregon, Arizona State and Arkansas definitely making the list. Pittsburgh is still one of his favorites but he hasn't talked with the coaching staff in a while.
The plan is to have a decision made by the end of his senior season unless he decides to take a fifth official visit. Boise State, Colorado State, Duke, Eastern Michigan, Maryland, San Diego State and West Virginia have also offered.
"Right now I'm going to take those four officials and then I'll probably take a fifth and then after that I'll make my decision," Fisher said. "I'll probably have it by the end of the season and if I have an official left I'll wait until after that official."
Higley is 0-3 to start the season. Two of those losses came by seven points or less. Fisher's team visits Maricopa, Ariz., this weekend.
