First visit to Auburn leads to offer for Mississippi athlete

THE LATEST: Raydarious Jones is a star athlete at Horn Lake (Miss.) and the talented junior spent Saturday at Auburn. He stepped foot on campus already holding offers from the likes of LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Southern Miss, then before he left the Plains, the Tigers added their name to the list.

His first visit to Auburn was one he will remember.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "Auburn has been showing interest in me, so the offer from them was not a complete shock," said Jones. "Coach [Marcus] Woodson (defensive backs) informed me that I have received an offer, then the defensive coordinator (Kevin Steele) did as well. I talked to them both.

"I like the people at Auburn. They made me feel at home even though it was my first time there.

"I got to take the tour, talk to the coaches and then hang out with the players. It was fun to hang with the players. The one I spent the most time with was Malcolm Askew. He told me a lot about Auburn. He talked to me about how it is there and how they treat each other like family.

"I do not have any favorites right now, but I like Auburn and I enjoyed every minute of my visit there. I will be going back for camp."

RIVALS REACTION: Jones is a very intriguing prospect because of his size, athleticism and versatility. He is a big-time quarterback at Horn Lake, but he likely has the most upside on the next level at defensive back, maybe even wide receiver. Quarterback is not completely out of the question though. He moves well and when you see that agility that goes with his size, he is very appealing. Auburn made a very strong first impression and he liked the atmosphere there. There is no clear-cut leader at this stage of his recruitment, so Auburn has put itself right in the thick of this race early on.
