First Visit For DE

Hampton (Va.) Bethel defensive end Chris Ellis has set his first official visit date.
"I'm going to Virginia Tech for Dec. 13 and I'm also heading to Maryland later in December," said the 6-foot-5, 230-pound rush end. "I'm also going to Virginia in January and I'll try to get to Tennessee soon, maybe for their game against Miami. That's when they want me there anyhow. My fifth visit, if I need it, is open."

Ellis is considering NC State, North Carolina and Syracuse for his last trip. So is Virginia Tech still in the lead?
"Yeah they are," he said. "I really like their style of defense and they're proving to everyone they can play with the best in the country and for the national title."
Ellis' Bethel team fell to Phoebus 38-0 this past Friday night as cornerback/wide receiver Phillip Brown dominated the game with two punts returned for a touchdown (84 and 77 yards) and a 17-yard TD catch.
"He's the real deal," Ellis said of Brown, who could be future teammate at Tech. "I talked to him and (Xavier) Adibi a little bit after the game. We talked about all going to the same school and how it would be cool if the top guys in Virginia all went to Virginia Tech."
However, Ellis is fighting the pressure to commit and wants to keep his options open.
"I have some people wondering why I haven't committed if I like Tech so much, but there are other good schools out there," he said. "I like Maryland a lot and Virginia has great academics and are playing better than I think anyone thought they would. Tennessee is tempting too because they have such great fan support. I'm not ready to decide anytime soon."
Ellis said he would also be at Virginia Tech when they host Virginia on Nov. 30.
"I'm not going to miss that one," he said. "That will be a war."
