First two offers come for NY fullback

Bayville (N.Y.) Chaminade sleeper fullback Mike Catapano has picked up his first offers of the season. The 6-foot-3, 234-pounder landed scholarships from two schools so far including one Division-I offer.
"I've got offers from Army and Hofstra," he said. "I got Hofstra last week when I attended their one day camp and Army on Memorial Day.

"Army was the first one and I'm really excited about that. It's great to be considered at the D-I level and West Point is a good school."
Last week's visit to Hofstra was just the start of a handful of camps for the Empire State prospect.
"I'm going to Wagner on Wednesday and Syracuse will be there," he said. "They've been after me a lot and hopefully they'll offer. I'm also going to Virginia, Rutgers, Boston College, Princeton and Yale. They all want to see me at camp to check out my size and speed."
Catapano is currently favoring a few schools.
"It's early, but I do like Syracuse a lot," he said. "Boston College is up there since they send a lot of mail and Duke has been a school I'm looking at too since they have great academics and football.
"I'm looking at Rutgers a lot and then the Ivy Leagues, Princeton and Yale are up there for me too. I'm definitely considering the Ivy's and it's a hard decision between D-I and Ivy right now for me."
Wherever Catapano goes, academics will be important in his decision.
"I'm looking for a balance between football and academics," he said. "I want a good school where business and pre-law are an option. I also want a good team and location is important too. I'd definitely like to stay on the East Coast."
At this time, the New York prospect is being considered at a variety of positions.
"I'm a very versatile player and teams are looking at me as a fullback, tight end, defensive end and linebacker," he said. "I don't care what I play as long as I get on the field."
