First SEC offer for Marks

Gabriel Marks has been committed to SMU since July but the Los Angeles (Calif.) Venice is having a strong senior season and has seen his recruitment take off a little bit in recent weeks.
The latest offer for Marks, a 6-foot, 175-pound four-star prospect, is from Vanderbilt and he's definitely interested to learn more about the program especially because the Commodores play in the SEC.

"They're pretty good this year," Marks said. "They got a new coach and they're on the rise so they're an interesting school."
Throughout his recruitment, Marks has made it clear that he plans to take other visits. Those probably won't happen until later in the season but he's looking at trips to Boston College, Utah, Colorado, SMU and now possibly Vanderbilt since it offered.
"I'm waiting until toward the end of the season for those," Marks said.
In total, Marks lists offers from SMU, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Colorado, Idaho, UCLA, Utah and Utah State.
More could definitely be coming especially if he continues to play so well. Friday night in a losing effort to La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat, Marks finished with nine catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran seven times for 113 yards and a score.
If Marks continues to put up those kinds of numbers maybe even more schools will come in with an offer.
"We were doing sweeps and then they put me in the Wildcat and I broke an 89-yarder," he said. "That was good."
Rivals.com rates Marks No. 17 at wide receiver, No. 116 in the 2012 class and No. 23 in the California state rankings.
