First offer is in for Ricketts

Five linebackers in the state of Michigan's 2012 class already claim Division 1 scholarship offers, and now that number has moved to an even half dozen with Holland's Nathan Ricketts grabbing his first offer on Friday.
"Western Michigan just offered," Ricketts reported. "They said they watched the first 30 seconds of my film and they knew right away."

The 6-3, 215-pound Ricketts has been receiving attention from schools across the region, but getting his first scholarship offer was a feeling he will not soon forget.
"It was real exciting just to know that I can go play at a Division 1 school," Ricketts said.
Ricketts learned of his offer from Western Michigan during a phone call with Bronco's assistant coach Jake Moreland. Rickett's father is an assistant coach himself at Division 3 Hope College, and there is familiarity between the Western Michigan coaching staff and the Rickett's family.
"They know my family real well, know my dad, know the way I have been raised and know I am a good kid," Ricketts said.
Other schools showing interest in Ricketts include Syracuse, Michigan, Northwestern, Michigan State, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. He will be attending a junior day at Michigan State on Sunday, and plans to see several more schools this spring.
"I have basketball right now and we're 13-5," Ricketts said. "We have districts coming up, but once basketball ends in March I am going to start going to spring practices."
