First offer is in for QB

Offer No. 1 is in for one prospect in the Commonwealth. The scholarship came in yesterday, who is it and what does he think about his first offer?
"I got offered by Virginia yesterday," Hampton, Va. quarterback David Watford said. "I got a letter from them. It is big. I was really excited when I read it. It felt good to get it."

Watford hasn't talked to the coaches at Virginia yet, but plans to next week on an unofficial visit.
"I was supposed to go to Virginia this weekend, but things got messed up," he said. "I'm going next week for their spring game."
Prior to the offer, Watford was hearing mostly from the rival Hokies.
"It was mostly from Tech, I hadn't heard really from Virginia until just now. They are recruiting me as a quarterback."
Does the Hampton prospect know much about the Cavaliers?
"I know a lot about them, Marques Hagans played there," he said. "He was the starting quarterback up there. I've been to campus and seen a lot of it already. They are real good academically and a good football team.
"They're trying to make a name for themselves. Coach London is a really good guy too. I have heard they have a lot of quarterbacks."
Watford is still hearing from Virginia Tech and was getting interest from Michigan and East Carolina as well.
Are there any favorites now?
"Not really, I'm not favoring anybody," he said. "I'm not discriminating, I'm looking at anybody that gives me a full ride.
"My top team will be good at academics. I've got to get a degree. Besides that, I'm playing football and I want to make sure I have a good coaching staff. I want a staff I feel comfortable around and can learn a lot under. I want them to prepare me to compete for the starting job and hopefully be able to make it to the NFL. I'd like a good fan base that comes to every game no matter who you play. I want a family environment that feels like my second home."
Watford plans to take one other unofficial in the coming weeks to Virginia Tech for their spring game on April 24th.
He'll head back to Blacksburg on May 8th for Nike Camp.
