First offer is in for mid-Atlantic kicker

Offer No. 1 is in for a kicker in the mid-Atlantic. The prospect pulled his first scholarship in the past few days from the MAC.
"I just got offered by the University of Akron," Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha kicker Michael Branthover said. "I'm doing my research on them now because I haven't heard a lot about them. But, I'm thinking about making an official visit there."

While Branthover doesn't know a lot about the Zips, he is thrilled to get his first scholarship.
"It feels really good," he said. "It's my first offer and I wasn't expecting anything like this, but now I am a Division I athlete."
Outside of Akron, Branthover continues to hear from Virginia Tech, Youngstown State and Delaware State.
So far this season, the 5-foot-10, 170-pounder is 3-of-3 on field goals including kicks of 35, 37 and 49. He has 10 touchbacks as well helping DeMatha to a 2-0 record.
