First offer is in for junior DE Marcus

Offer No. 1 is in for defensive end Jamal Marcus. The Durham (N.C.) Hillside 2012 prospect pulled a scholarship awhile back from one in-state school and plenty of other colleges are interested.
"East Carolina offered me a verbal midway through my sophomore year," he said. "That was my first offer and it makes me want to be a better player."

Does Marcus know anything about East Carolina?
"I went to a fall practice and it was real good," he said. "They look like a good team and they won a bowl game last year. Plus, it'd be close."
The Pirates aren't the only ones interested according to the 6-foot-2, 217-pounder.
"I've gotten mail from North Carolina, Oregon, Duke and Arkansas," he said. "I think NC State is close to offering me and Alabama is supposed to be at one of my games this season."
With interest developing, does Marcus like anyone?
"I like the atmosphere at North Carolina," he said. "They have a good team atmosphere and want to win a lot. I like the same thing at NC State and East Carolina, they have winning attitudes and academics are first."
Does the lineman have any visits coming up?
"I'll probably go to Duke, NC State and East Carolina to watch their games."
With interest growing, the junior prospect broke down what he wants in a college.
"I'm looking for academics first and a team atmosphere along with somewhere I feel at home," he said. "I want a place that wants to win and somewhere that'll get me better. I have family originally from Tampa, Florida, but I've always lived in North Carolina."
