First offer in, interest picking up for 2019 OLB Kevin Harris

THE LATEST: Kevin Harris will be seen by many coaches this spring and you can expect his offer list to grow. He plays at Loganville (Ga.) Grayson, where they have well over a dozen Division 1 football prospects and Harris could end up as one of the best.

The 6-foot-4, 206 pound sophomore is an athletic outside linebacker with length, agility and speed. His name is starting to get out and he recently picked up offer No. 1.

UAB is the first school to pull the trigger and he is excited about that.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "UAB is getting things started again in football," said Harris. "I know their football program was shut down, so they are picking things up and getting it going over there again. I know they are working hard to re-build their program and they have some good coaches over there.

"The offer was definitely a surprise to me. It was my first offer, I did not know a lot about them and it was very interesting when I found out about it.

"Things are picking up for me a little bit now. North Carolina has started to show interest, South Carolina invited me up for a visit and I think schools are starting to hear about me.

"My favorite school as a kid growing up was LSU. A lot of my family is from Louisiana, so there are a lot of LSU and New Orleans Saints fans in my family. I personally love the defense LSU plays and how they produce top pass rushers. I would love to be part of a defense like that.

"I am very excited about my first offer and it just shows me that my hard work is not going by the wayside. I see the results of the hard work and college coaches now are too, so that is a great feeling."

RIVALS REACTION: At Grayson, there are quite a few big names on that campus and although they are going through a coaching change after winning a state title, that field house will be full of college coaches daily starting April 15. Harris will have many eyes on him and the coaches will be impressed. He will likely add offers between now and the time the spring evaluation period starts, but there is no doubt he will pick some up in April and May. He is a humble young man who works extremely hard and he is ready for his recruitment to take off.
