First offer for 2013 lineman

At, 6-foot-8 and 285-pounds, 2013 offensive lineman Mike McGlinchey of Philadelphia (Pa.) Penn Charter definitely stands out in a crowd. The big lineman also stands out on the football field, which led him to pick up his first offer from an ACC program.
"Recruiting is going pretty well," said McGlinchey. "I have been talking to some coaches here and there and I have an offer from Boston College. The offer came a couple of months ago."

Being his first offer, McGlinchey is already very familiar with the BC program.
"I like it a lot up there," he said. "The program is huge for offensive linemen, so that's a huge plus, and it's pretty solid all-around. I like the coaching staff a lot and it's a great school as well."
McGlinchey has actually already taken multiple visits to Boston College, partially because he has some interesting ties to the program.
"I got invited to their junior day in January and I was up there over the summer last year," said McGlinchey. "My cousin used to play there so I've been up to a few of his games too. My cousin is Matt Ryan. He's my mom's sister's son."
While Boston College is the first to offer, McGlinchey is sure to receive interest from across the nation. One of the top programs in the nation is also well aware of the big lineman.
"I know Alabama is recruiting me," said McGlinchey. "My coach hasn't told me the other ones that have contacted him because I haven't had a chance to sit down and talk to him. The only reason I know about Bama is because I was talking to their coaches already."
McGlinchey will hit the road this summer for a few visits.
"I'm definitely going to Bama and BC, but I haven't decided on the other places yet," he said.
